Altwork Supports ME/CFS Awareness Month

May is ME/CFS Awareness Month, and Altwork is proud to show our support for the ME/CFS community worldwide. Our innovative workstation is designed to help people, including those with ME/CFS, manage their symptoms while working, and we believe that this can make a real difference in their lives.

ME/CFS, which stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, is a debilitating condition that affects millions of people globally. Symptoms can include extreme fatigue, muscle and joint pain, headaches, cognitive difficulties, and more, and can severely impact a person's ability to work, socialize, and engage in everyday activities. 

Altwork started in the spinal injury community. Then people within ME/CFS, POTS, Long Covid and EDS communities adopted and continue to educate us. Orthostatic intolerance is a debilitating symptom that ME/CFS can have in common with a number of related conditions. We learnt that working in a horizontal position can help manage such physical and cognitive symptoms.

We offer adjustable, customizable robotic workstations that can be tailored to each individual's needs. Our products are designed with comfort, functionality, and ergonomics in mind, so you can work comfortably and productively, even when dealing with the challenges of ME/CFS. We have clients with a range of neuroimmune and autonomic nervous system disorders whose lives have benefited greatly from Altwork Signature workstations. At Altwork, we truly understand that every person's experience with ME/CFS is unique, regardless of where they are in the world. We know this because some of the Altwork family is directly affected by this condition. 

While there is currently no cure for ME/CFS, for those able, productivity can be maximized within the limits of the individual. UK residents can be funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Access to Work program and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) Disabled Students Allowance, to help with the cost of work accommodations and equipment like Altwork workstations.

One way that we're showing our support for ME/CFS Awareness Month is by displaying the blue ribbon on our website and social media channels. The blue ribbon is a symbol of solidarity and support for people with ME/CFS globally, and we're proud to join the ME/CFS community in raising awareness about this condition.
