PURCHASING ASSISTANT

We are looking for a skilled Administrative Assistant with Procurement experience to support our Purchasing Department and Operations Team.

This position will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Purchasing team by creating P.O.’s and purchasing COTS parts
  • Communication and feedback to vendors
  • Creating and maintaining excel spreadsheets
  • Answering phones, emails, and general correspondence
  • Creating and maintaining filing system

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Experience with QuickBooks, a plus
  • Familiarity with any ERP/MRP systems, a plus
  • Basis Inventory Control Experience
  • Basic knowledge of, or experience with shipping/receiving
  • Ability to build and maintain spreadsheets
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good verbal skills, both on telephone and in-person
  • High energy person and able to work in a fast-paced, small company environment

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for integrating design changes and new products into manufacturing and sustaining the product assembly and test processes.

Job Duties:

  • Develops and maintains assembly documentation including work instructions, travelers, rework/repair procedures
  • Provides manufacturing engineering support concurrent with new designs, including but not limited to Design for Manufacturing and Assembly
  • Creates and maintains Assembly Flow diagrams
  • Identifies, develops and coordinates procurement and implementation of all necessary tooling and build fixtures
  • Provides build coordination, technical support and troubleshooting assistance to production
  • Supports Procurement in the selection, qualification and maintenance of critical vendors
  • Supports the creation and material disposition of design engineering changes
  • Supports MRB and the creation and material disposition of non-conformances
  • Supports root cause and corrective action of part and assembly non-conformances
  • Supports continued improvement of designs, production processes and manufacturing engineering processes through the implementation of LEAN principles and Operational Excellence Metrics
  • Supports effective training for assembly technicians
  • Implements LEAN manufacturing processes and Operational Excellence and develops, maintains and reduces Standard Hours and Build Cycle Times
  • Implements and maintains a visual factory
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Education – BS Degree (Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering)
  • Experience – 8 years in:
    • manufacturing of complex mechanical assemblies
    • high rate production
    • manufacturing and part fabrication methods (i.e. machining, weldments, molds, castings)
  • Acknowledged technical leader and technical expert with demonstrated ability to mentor others in the performance of job responsibilities
  • Technical background in design, production and/or customer service
  • Proficiency in MS Office and MS Excel. MS Project and Visio proficiency preferred
  • Knowledge of CAD systems and Manufacturing ERP systems strongly desired
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Experience with DFX (Design for Manufacturability, Cost, Process Variation)

QUALITY ENGINEER

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to be responsible for defining and developing product quality test processes and systems for managing quality.  Including part and subsystem functional and appearance standards to assure product meets or exceeds customer expectations.  Management of supplier audits, RMA process, and corrective actions.

Job Duties:

  • Review part requirements with engineering to identify key characteristics and ensure parts are dimensioned for inspection   
  • Define part inspection criteria and frequency at suppliers. This includes visual criteria. Track supplier data to ensure process capability.   Develop strong relationships with key suppliers
  • Define receiving inspection criteria and frequency. Provide timely feedback to suppliers
  • Improve and maintain FRACAS for suppliers, parts and assemblies. Ensure root cause, corrective and preventative action are identified, implemented and validated
  • Define assembly process workmanship and quality standards for assembly and test
  • Conduct failure reviews and provide leadership to analyze and resolve all quality problems
  • Analysis of product field failures and development of customer return and service processes
  • Quality system metrics development and regular reporting of metrics with continuous improvement goals

Our ideal candidate has:

  • BSME or equivalent technical degree
  • 5 years of experience in a volume production environment managing assembly or part fabrication quality
  • Lean six sigma training and proven ability to use structured processes to define and manage assembly processes
  • Quality system development
  • Ability read and understand complex mechanical drawings, Solid works models and related assembly drawings
  • Measurement and inspection techniques for mechanical parts
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong MS Office skills: excel, power point, word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative
  • Ability to mentor others

QUALITY INSPECTOR

We are looking for an experienced quality inspector to support a complex mechanical assembly environment. 

This position will be responsible for:

  • Conducting receiving inspection
  • Creating receiving inspection instructions
  • Training others in inspection as needed for backup
  • Conduct source inspection at suppliers
  • Write up part non-conformances and work with suppliers on root cause, corrective and preventative actions
  • Write up assembly non-conformances and work with Altwork process owners on root cause, corrective and preventative actions
  • Conduct MRBs as needed to get timely (<24hr) disposition of materials
  • Create flow downs to suppliers on inspection requirements and documentation of that inspection
  • Work with engineering to identify Key Characteristics on part drawings that require higher inspection levels and tracking
  • Create workmanship standards for both suppliers and our assembly process to remove ambiguity and subjectivity.
  • Maintain metrics on both internal and external non-conformances
  • Audit our internal processes where they exist
  • Help document internal processes where they do not exist
  • Audit supplier quality systems.
  • Audit supplier processes used to create our parts to ensure they are capable
  • Define, review and approve first article inspections
  • Define requirements for delta first articles on revised parts.
  • Create paperless system for quality documentation and records.
  • Improve current manual working non-conformance system.  Suggest more automated alternatives

Our ideal candidate has:

  • At least 5 years experience in a mechanical assembly environment
  • Ability to identify areas to improve the design or process and communicate it to the team
  • Lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • AA Degree, preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to stand 8 hours/day
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN 

We are looking for experienced assembly technicians to assemble mechanical subsystems utilizing basic tools and standard work instructions and methods in a complex mechanical assembly environment.  In addition, we are looking for candidates who will be excited to be part of building a high quality California made product!

This position will be responsible for:

  • Hand assembly of precision metal, plastic, formed parts into subassemblies using hand tools and power drivers
  • Part and functional inspections on assemblies to assure proper performance
  • Communications and feedback to the team on any problems in assembly
  • Quality assurance reporting
  • Assist with internal Assembly process and quality standards development
  • Participate as directed in root cause and corrective action teams to analyze and resolve all quality problems
  • Helping the team continually increase build rate and reduce touch time.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • At least 5 years experience in a mechanical assembly environment
  • Experience writing work instructions a plus
  • A deep appreciation for quality craftsmanship, fit & finish
  • Ability to read and understand detail workmanship instructions, dimensional part drawings and part features
  • High degree of eye hand coordination and ability to do precise repeatable builds in a timely manner with consistent results
  • Ability to identify areas to improve the design or process and communicate it to the team
  • Lean manufacturing experience a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
